Legislative Priorities 2016

END IRAN’S NUCLEAR WEAPONS ACTIVITY AND OTHER ILLEGAL ACTIONS

Congress should pass legislation this year to continue, or even increase, sanctions on Iran's nuclear weapons, sponsorship of terrorism and violations of human rights. Since Iran’s leaders continually incite genocide against Israel, Congress also should consider the “Genocide Abatement and Prevention Act (GAP Act)” that CIPAC has drafted to indict Iran's leaders and set innovative, new processes to prevent and abate actions to incite or commit genocide against any national, ethnic, racial, or religious group, at the first outbreak of any such actions.

SAVE U.S. TAX DOLLARS: STOP U.S. AID FOR THE PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY

PLO.jpgThe Palestinian Authority fails to fulfill agreements, wants to link with Hamas (a recognized terrorist entity), glorifies terrorists, incites attacks against Israel, refuses Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state, seeks to have the UN grant it legitimacy as a state and makes no effort to negotiate peace. Thus CIPAC supports legislation to withhold U.S. foreign aid to the Palestinian Authority and to withhold U.S. funding to the UN or any part thereof that recognizes a new Palestinian state as a UN Member outside of the peace negotiation process.

(Other Relevant Legislation: H.Con.Res.128 and S.Con.Res.35 - A concurrent resolution expressing the sense of Congress that the United States should continue to exercise its veto in the United Nations Security Council on resolutions regarding the Israeli-Palestinian peace process. H.R.3667 - United Nations Transparency, Accountability, and Reform Act of 2015)

SAVE MORE U.S. TAX DOLLARS BY CUTTING U.S. AID TO UNHRC AND UNRWA

Congress must cut U.S. support for the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) to send a strong signal of disapproval, in light of their bias toward and attacks upon Israel.  UNHRC's anti-Israel bias focuses actions on Israel while North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Syria and other states keep on murdering and oppressing their citizens. More than once rockets have been found in UNRWA Gaza facilities, including hospitals, while UNRWA schools incite hatred and terror.

SET U.S. STRATEGIC POLICY ON ISIS AND OTHER RADICAL ISLAMISTS

Congress should set clear, comprehensive U.S. strategic policy based on lessons learned from U.S. conflicts since WW II, to fill the present policy vacuum and defeat ISIS and other radical Islamist entities. The ongoing Syrian civil war alone has resulted in 500,000 dead, 15 million refugees and ISIS occupying much of Syria's territory.  Urgent action must be taken to stop the war, defeat ISIS and other terrorist groups and support Free Syrian opponents of Assad. Relevant legislation is S Res 340 which passed the Senate July 7, 2016, and H. Con Res 75 and H Con Res 121, both of which have passed the House and are awaiting action in the Senate.

RECOGNIZE JERUSALEM AS ISRAEL'S CAPITAL WITH U.S. EMBASSY THERE

Israel1.jpgCIPAC urges passage of H.R. 114 and S. 117 to remove the waiver authority and thus let the U.S. Embassy in Israel be relocated to Jerusalem, Israel’s capital, without further delay. Go to our Take Action page to send emails to your representatives in support of these two bills.
